Othello

In jealousy there is more self-love than love.--François, Duc de La Rochefoucauld, Maxims, 1665

The play "Othello" connects to the soundtrack “Mr. Brightside” by the lyrics “It started out with a kiss, How did it end up like this? It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss” this could represent his feelings for Desdemona. “Now they're going to bed And my stomach is sick/And it's all in my head/But she's touching his chest/Now, he takes off her dress/Now, letting me go” this verse can be broken down by the imagery of Othello thinking that Desdemona and Cassio were having relations, also that these thoughts of Desdemona being unfaithful are playing with his mental health and begins to breakdown making it easier for Iago to control him and the situation. “And I just can't look - it's killing me And taking control jealousy, turning saints into the sea swimming through sick lullabies Choking on your alibis” this verse could represent the feelings Othello has if Desdemona is cheating on him, also that the thoughts of Desdemona and someone else in her life makes Othello very angry and envious. The part with sick lullabies and alibis could represent Desdemona telling Othello the truth, but still killing her and also times before that Desdemona telling Othello that she is only with Othello no one else.
