History of Immigration in America

The United States always had immigrants come to America.  When new immigrants would come to America, that new group was always discriminated.  At one point every ethnic group has been discriminated against.  People do not like certain ethnic groups because of their appearance, culture, and beliefs.  America has been discriminatory towards African-Americans, Irish, Muslims, Japanese, and a lot of others.  They all experienced stares, people ignoring them, and people not hire them.  These immigrants have helped America flourish into the country that it is today.

Geeks And Jocks

People express themselves by wearing clothes that represent their individuality.  For males, they can dress more athletic, or even geeky.  Jocks tend to wear their team jersey, or some form of athletic shirt with a pair of jeans.  Geeks tend to wear pants above their waist, suspenders, and a shirt with pockets for a pocket protector.  Saved By The Bell was a show that was about going thought high school. A.C. Slater was the jock that was the schools star athletic who got all the girls.  Samuel "Screech" Powers was geek that was nerdy, clumsy, and did not have as much luck as A.C. Slater. They were labeled based on their looks and not by personally. The geek wishes that he was more of a jock because they get more attention and popularity.  This does not only happen between geeks and jocks, this problem occurs often with many different styles between a male and female.

Drivers

Dear Drivers at NCC parking lot,

Sometimes I really wonder how people got their licenses. The drivers are very rude and they seem too think its everyone else's fault for their own actions. I hate when you:

• When drivers think they have the right of way entering the main road when they do not at all.
• When they do not signal and just cut you off.
• The park really crooked and then when I park next to that its a hassle
• When drivers go so fast in the parking lot they almost hit people not paying attention to anything
Everyday because of these stupid mistakes, Nassau can see at least one accident a day! People are really annoying when driving and this is why I HATE to drive in the parking lot!  I hope I am not next to get hit because other people can not drive!

An annoyed driver

Media and Audience

Television have an affect on people's judgement.  Comedy Sitcoms have been the most impacted genre of television. This genre of shows was started in the 1950's.  Even today, sitcoms are still on the air, but they are not as popular as they were.  The shows consist families or a group of friends that had problems just like any person, but have some comedy involved.  This makes people relate to the families on the show and like to watch how they solve the problems that they go though everyday. Some shows include "The Honeymooners", "According To Jim", "George Lopez", "The Big Bang Theory", and "How I Met Your Mother". Many sitcoms might not be on, but even after 60 years years of being around this genre still can make any one laugh.

Family/Marriage

Family can be defined in many different ways. Most people believe that family is a mother, father, siblings, and possibly a pet, but people do not realize that now it is also grandparents, uncles, aunts, and even close friends that are considered family.  "Full House", a famous T.V. show, is about a single dad named Danny Tanner whose wife gets killed and now needs help raising his three little girls. So he asks his brother-in-law Jesse and his best friend Joey to help raise the children.  Every family is always caring and helpful no matter what the situation is. This might not be a "typical" family but this shows extended family helps their family, whether it is blood or just close friends.  Families also give a ton of unconditional love. If anyone have a bad day at school or at work, they can always come home to family to comfort them. Although families get along most of the time, sometimes they get into fights that they always find a solution for. No matter what happens, families will always be their in the end.
